Data Notes

Pāṇḍitya uses a static snapshot of the Pandit database from 2024-12-23. This export had 67,500 rows (= entities) and 163 columns (= fields). Only a subset of this is used:

• 14 fields (columns): Content type, ID, Title, Aka, Social identifiers, Author (person IDs), Authors (person), Attributed author (person ID), Attributed author (person), Discipline, Commentary on (work ID), Commentary on (work), Highest Year, Lowest Year
• 2 out of 9 Content types (= row types): Person, Work
  • This reduces the number of rows to 17,740
  • Some minor cleaning reduced this number further to 17,721
  • Persons without associated Works were then removed

Below are some summary statistics on the overall network and on sub-communities:

• Total entities: 16,497 (12,700 works, 3,797 authors)
• Total relationships: 13,685 (9,286 author → work, 4,398 work → work)
